Koryn Hare will present on her research findings at the University of Guelph: “Colostrum yield will be related to lactose synthesis and its production has been shown to be regulated by energy intake during late gestation in dairy cows and sheep. In this experiment, we evaluated if metabolizable energy could be used to influence colostrum production in late gestation beef cattle.”

Amber Zupan will follow with a presentation on the research she has been conducting: “Current nutritional models are starting to incorporate undigestible NDF (uNDF) into formulations with little knowledge on how uNDF content affects performance and gut health of feedlot animals. In addition, formulations often use general forage content, however not all forages are created the same in terms of digestibility and effectiveness. In this study, we evaluated the effects of uNDF and grain fermentability on performance and gut health of feedlot steers during the finishing phase.”
